Gravity Game Prototype


Summary

  • Designed and developed an innovative puzzle platform game inspired by the mechanics of VVVVVV in Unreal Engine 5.2 with C++.
  • Created game mechanic for flipping gravity, requires player’s engagement and thinking.
  • Implemented advanced features such as dynamic particle effects using Niagara Systems, AI-driven enemy behaviors, and immersive sound design with Unreal Engine’s Meta Sound.

The GravityGame is a puzzle platform game, and it is inspired by the game “vvvvvv“. The core mechanic of this game is that the gravity of the character will flip when character jumped.

As players exploring levels, they will discover different item and
components in the game. Including check points, crowns, green moving cube, blue falling platforms, red killer cubes & bullets, space stations and yellow changing blocks. These items has different material or mesh, and some have Niagara effects on them, play different and distinctive parts in the level, and make the game becomes challenging.

The game consist of 3 levels, while first 2 levels are general levels, the third level is a surviving level. The level is full of automated (cursed) space stations with AI (blackboard) movement or shoot behaviours, and requires player to stay alive for 45 seconds.
